Zentangle art

W.A.L.T use different patterns.
Last week we did Zentangle art.

Step 1. First you print a sea animal that you like.
Step 2. Then you do some zentangle patterns in your sea animal.
Step 3. Next you use a sharpie to go over the patterns.
Step 4. Dye your sea animal what you like.
Step 5. Once your dye is dry glue it on.

I enjoyed using the dye because we did cool blending. It was challenging to use the sharpie because it would spreed.

Have you done Zentangle art before ?

Maths strategy

W.A.L.T use rounding and compensating to solve addition problems .

Last week my group the circles have been learning a maths strategy rounding and compensating. This is rounding one number tidy ten and compensate the other number down and then add it together.
I enjoy using this maths strategy because it is a fun and easy maths strategy to figure out my maths problem. Here is a image of rounding and compensating.

Have you use rounding and compensating before ?

Try and use rounding and compensating to figure out these problems.

1. Ben had 38 jelly beans and Caleb gave 25 jelly beans to Ben how many jelly beans does Ben have now ?

2. 49 + 67 =

3. 103 + 87 =

Explanation writing

How bee’s make honey

W.A.L.T write explanation writing about how bees make honey.

This term in writing we have been learning about explanation writing this piece of writing is about how bees make honey.

Did you know one bee has to fly about 90,000 miles-three times around the globe to make one pound of honey.bee’s do all the work and the beekeepers collect honey and sell it.

Bees like to collect pollen and nectar in the spring when the plants and flowers are in bloom.Bees collect nectar with their straw like tongue called a proboscis. When they have collected the nectar they fly back to the hive and make the honey.

On the way back the nectar is inside the bees stomach for about half an hour. The nectar mixes with the proteins and enzymes produced by the bees turning the nectar into honey.

Once bees get back to the hive they spit it into a bee’s mouth to make it sticky. When it is sticky they spit it into the honeycomb. They flap their wings to dry it out and put wax over it to protect it.

Now the beekeepers come and collect the honey and package it for the stores.
